I loved being able to experience the University of Tennessee for two months. NIMBioS organized on-campus housing, which definitely made the program more accessible to undergrads. The training sessions at the beginning of the program were amazing, they offered training in a wide variety of different computational skills.
What I wish was different
I wish the program had been a bit longer, 8 weeks is a very limited amount of time to complete a research project.
Advice
Review the project you are assigned to and the focused skills in advance. There is lots of training at the start of the program, but it never hurts to think ahead! Feel free to reach out to the program coordinators and your advisors in advance if you have questions about the material.
