New York Film Academy

Technical Assistant

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The opportunity to communicate and work with budding film students was enjoyable and fulfilling. Some of the students I worked with even inspired me to develop more of my skills as a filmmaker.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to work with some of the adult programs and instructors.

Advice

If you work with younger students, guide them along in ways that will maintain both their safety and their overall vision. I've heard of other TAs who "took over" students' projects and in the end they were kept safe, but were somewhat dissatisfied with their finished product.

Residential Advisor

What I liked

I loved interacting with all the students. It wasn’t great because many of them came from countries as far as South Africa and Korea. It was interesting learning about how much different their home country was from nyc.
