What I liked

This agency has changed my life in a more positive way than I could have imagined. I had been curious for a few years about entrepreneurship but had no idea where to begin and how to get the kind of support I needed without paying an arm and a leg. When I found this opportunity, I was a little daunted by the financial aspect of it (my background is in psychology), but knew that worst case scenario, 3 things would happen: 1) I would receive really great financial education that I knew I needed, 2) I would, at the very least, learn about the ins and outs of entrepreneurship so that I could make a more informed decision about whether it is the professional path I want to take, and 3) I would get to experience something new and out of my comfort zone, and as a self-development/personal growth junkie, that was very appealing to me. What I did not expect was that what I thought would just be a two-month long summer internship actually became the beginning of the rest of my life. I knew very quickly that this is what had been missing from my life and I just didn't realize it. The level of support, positivity, loyalty, and training that you get is not something you will find in the corporate world. You get the opportunity to work for yourself but never by yourself, make amazing money (once you are properly licensed, which can be knocked out very quickly), and change society one family at a time. You get to go on free trips all over the country and all over the world, you get to attend exciting and inspirational conventions all over the country and hear some of the most emotional rags to riches stories from people just like you and me who started in the business having no idea what to do and are now financially independent, you get world-class business AND personal development training, you never have to answer to a boss, worry about being let go or fired, or feel like you are competing for resources and promotions with others in the business. For this reason, I have decided to continue growing my business with them while I finish up my doctoral degree at UT Dallas - once I have graduated, I am going full-time immediately because it is what I want to do for the rest of my life. The mission of the agency is no family left behind, and they truly practice what they preach. This opportunity could potentially change your life - who knows, maybe it isn't for you, and that's okay - but what do you have to lose?

What I wish was different

Nothing - they have exceeded my expectations in every single way. I never thought something like this existed. If you would have described an organization like this to me a few years ago, I would have been highly skeptical, but I'm telling you right now - it exists!

Advice

Here's my biggest nugget of advice to you - do NOT believe everything you read on the internet. You can Google Google and find negative things about Google. Keep these things in mind: 1) most reviews are posted by people who did not get what they wanted, and often this is because they weren't willing to put the hard work in. Those with positive experiences hardly ever post reviews - therefore, the vast majority of reviews online are already incredibly biased, 2) many people are simply afraid of anything that is different. It's only natural - humans are skeptical, and sometimes it pays to be skeptical. However, it also contributes to missed opportunities, which is even scarier. Don't let fear keep you from trying something new, and 3) remember that if you Google your own car, your own cell phone, or whatever goods and products you have, you are likely going to find negative information. If those reviews didn't stop you from moving forward with your decision to purchase, why should this? and finally, 4) there are books written about us that dispel the MLM myths and other rumors. So, all in all, the take-home message would be to give it a try if you have even an inkling of curiosity about the opportunity!

What I liked

I liked the learning experience I received when preparing for my Insurance Licensure Exam.

What I wish was different

I wish the company had been more upfront about the job description. This company is the same thing as World Financial Group or Transamerica. They don't have a good reputation and the name of the company was advertised as something entirely different on this website to hide that. I wish the internship had started sooner and I wish it had been more organized. My trainer was often late and was also new to the business which was concerning at times. The company was more about lead generation and recruiting rather than selling the product itself. Which is known as network marketing or MLM.

Advice

Do not take part in an internship with this company unless you feel comfortable pestering your close family and friends to want to buy their insurance products with no commission in return (a part of the training component). You don't start making money until you've passed the examination, helped sell a few contracts, apply for a license, and become appointed. A lot of the times this can take the entirety of your summer.
