I liked getting to interact with dogs and cats everyday and being able to teach kids about animal welfare. It was also a very relaxed/supportive work environment.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been given breaks. I understood why it wasn’t possible (kids need to be supervised at all times), but I was exhausted at the end of each day.
Advice
Wear comfortable clothes/shoes and make sure to lean on your fellow counselors when you’re feeling overwhelmed
