I enjoy the close atmosphere with all of my fellow coworkers and I got the leadership experience and skills that are necessary for several other professional settings
What I wish was different
I wish that the work hours were not as long. I could work anywhere from 40-60 hours a week, but they don't pay overtime since it is a seasonal job
Advice
This is a seasonal job and the pay rate is reflected in that. It is rewarding and is a good tool to use as a stepping stone into a future job/career.

Lifeguard
April - August 2018 • Meridian, ID
What I liked
Everyone that worked there was super nice and outgoing, very easy to get along with. The managers really focused on team work and listened to the employees (wanted our feedback) with certain issues, to make our summer more enjoyable. Flexible with scheduling hours and shifts. They also really prepare you before you go on stand - lots of service hours and classes to upkeep your lifeguard certification.
What I wish was different
I wish the pay had been more competitive with other pools in the valley - maybe closer to 10.50 /hour
Advice
Definitely make sure your stay in shape over summer - swim a few laps and prepare for the lifeguard test. Be really capable of talking with upset guests. Make sure to schedule time off for yourself - mental breaks are important.
