Rock Shrimp Productions NY LLC

Production and Development Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed this position because I felt it was a great first internship. I also enjoyed that, after my time with this company, they want to form a bond with Fordham in order to have more interns from this university.

What I wish was different

I wish this internship had been paid. It was difficult making ends meet without being paid, and I understand many internships are unpaid, but it was certainly a challenge going to a job that was unpaid where I often did tasks that non-college students were capable of doing.

Advice

I would tell future interns in this position to ask a lot of questions and get to know those employees at the company who seem friendly. Asking high-ups where they started and where they interned will open up an interesting line of communication and show that you have interest in continuing in this industry.

production intern

May - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

A lot of hands on experience within departments ranging from development to post production. Everyone in the office is so friendly and eager to help you learn new things.

What I wish was different

In between shoots or assignments work was very slow or just filled with busy work.

Advice

Don't wait to be given a busy work assignment, go into people's offices (especially the editors) and ask to shadow them so you aren't stuck doing something you don't want to do.

Everyone was really nice. It was cool to learn about the development side of television, and my supervisor took a real interest in my ideas.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been paid. I also wish there was sometimes more to do.

Advice

Be extremely proactive, especially when it comes to reaching out to talent.
