The children, reliving my traumatized childhood and rectifying my wounds through helping children through their issues. It was beautiful and amazing and fufilling and it reminded me of the strength of everyone and the whole-peopleness of children.
What I wish was different
i wish there had been less picking counselors based on previous standing. some people were horrible with kids and were on their phones 24/7 and insulted the kids. I tried my best to call them out but mean people are mean people through and through. I wish the directors weren't so silly about ignoring concerns of other counslors and listened instead because some people should NEVER work at that camp again.
Advice
Focus on yourself and your relationship with the kids and your co counselors and you'll have a blast. Don't let others' negative attitudes effect you.
