Small Mammal Intern

What I liked

Interacting and caring for the animals, learning about their natural environments, diets, behavior and activity levels. Interacting with other zoo members and professionals, as well as providing information about the animals to the public. I did this through informal talks and a formal Keeper Talk.

What I wish was different

I understand why interns are not paid, as we are seeking invaluable experience. I do wish at times that I was paid as I traveled 2 hours round trip.

Advice

To be in apt physical shape if one wishes to work in a zoo.
