Roundabout Theatre Company

Marketing Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Working for Roundabout Theatre Company (RTC) was an incredible experience. During my time there, I was responsible for independently managing projects related to advertising and partnership development, preparing for and helping to execute numerous pre- and post- show marketing events, marketing and sales reporting, interdepartmental routing, and strategic outreach for their 2019 – 2020 season. It was such a cool opportunity to be on the ground floor helping develop marketing plans for the companies new Broadway and off-Broadway shows. During my time at RTC I was also able to help set-up and run their booth at World Pride, work an Opening Night party, and sit in on weekly seminars with senior staff members from every department.

What I wish was different

Absolutely nothing! Upon arriving at the office I immediately felt like a valued member of the marketing team. Supervisors were passionate about your growth and eager to help you learn and grow as an individual.

Advice

It is so important take advantage of every opportunity you are given while you working within a big organization such as Roundabout was. Always... ALWAYS ask questions! If you want to learn more about something, even if it is not within your position or department, dont be afraid to reach out to you advisor to help set up an informative interview. As interns you are there to LEARN so take advantage of that!

On-Site Education Intern

June - August 2016 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Roundabout's education program is strong and long-standing, and I felt that I was a necessary element to the on-site education programs. I appreciated the inclusion into the department and the multitudes of outside opportunity being a part of the Roundabout family gave me.

What I wish was different

At times, it felt that I was supervising children at camp rather than helping run the education programs, but that's fairly typical in any education department.

Advice

Save as much information as you can! You are surrounded by resources and networks of people willing to help you, don't feel like you have to do your job and then leave. Ask about extra tasks if you're feeling up to the job.
