S2N Health LLC

Analyst Intern

What I liked

I absolutely loved my experience at S2N Health. My previous roles were all very technical and hands-on, so I was excited to explore the business side of the medical device industry. I loved being able to work on four very different projects and engage directly with our clients. I learned a variety of new skills such as how to build financial models, conduct rigorous primary and secondary research, create pitch decks, and conduct competitor research. In addition to doing the type of work that a full-time employee would be doing, the team also took the time to make me feel very welcome with fun weekly video call company lunches. I couldn't have asked for a better experience during such an unusual, forced remote summer.

What I wish was different

I wish I had the opportunity to work in the office in-person, but because everyone was working from home because of COVID-19, there was a strong sense of community around being remote all together.

Advice

Be open with the team: communicate what your summer goals are, ask lots of questions, volunteer to help out if you finish your work early, and speak up.

Consulting Analyst Co-op

What I liked

There were nothing but great things to say about my co-op experience at S2N Health. For starters, the work that is being done at S2N on a daily basis is very interesting. During my 6 months as a co-op, I was able to work with several different types of medical device companies, working on developing business & economic models all the way to doing diligence work for company acquisitions. Also, I was generally working on 2-3 projects at once which made each day very different and exciting. As a bioengineering major, I had no business/consulting experience going into this co-op, but through the guidance and instruction from my coworkers I was able to learn so much about the industry. Lastly, other than the compelling work I was exposed to, the amazing people at S2N was what truly made my work experience amazing. Everyone was so friendly, and in just a matter of weeks I felt fully immersed into the fun company culture.

What I wish was different

Other than COVID-19 forcing me to work from home for the last few months of my co-op, I would not wish anything to be different. Being in the office Monday-Friday and being able to see my coworkers was always a joy.

Advice

My one piece of advice would be to come into the job with open arms. Be willing to work on any project thrown your way and be open to making new friends in the office. Each project you are able to learn something new and incredible if you fully dive into it. Also, each project you will generally work with different people in the office which gives you a chance to work closely with all your coworkers.

Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I loved my experience as an intern at S2N Health. Studying biomedical engineering in college with an interest in developing healthcare technology, I was able to learn more about the business-facing approach of the medical technology industry through this rewarding experience. As an intern, I had the opportunity to work on many different projects, each with technologies in vastly different fields. Being able to work on multiple projects at a given time made me feel that I was challenged every day and that I was actively contributing and being involved in projects. The work environment was very conducive to growth; the partners and analysts are incredible mentors, always providing me opportunities to gather additional experience with different roles in a variety of projects. My favorite part of S2N is the small team, and that we are all able to know each other very well and have fun company outings after work.

What I wish was different

There can be some days where not a lot work is needed for a project at a given time. However, the partners and analysts are always willing to let you jump in on another project where help is needed, so you never feel that you are not occupied.

Advice

The team is very willing and flexible to help you learn new skills and help out on different projects - don't hesitate to speak up and take initiative!

What I liked

I was able to learn so much about the medical device industry. I got to view it from another angle as I was focused on the business aspects of the industry and I got the experience of working with multiple different companies. I also really appreciated how I was treated as another member of the team rather than an intern. I was trusted with big assignments and was allowed to interact with clients.

What I wish was different

While I really enjoyed learning more about the business behind medical devices, I did miss the engineering and science aspect.

Advice

Ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to speak up!
