Everyone was so welcoming and the organization really felt like a community. Also, the opportunity for growth and learning was huge.
What I wish was different
I wish I got to meet the people I met in person. Things would've been so different.
Advice
Always be open to learning and meeting new people. You never know what new opportunities will present for you.

What I liked
Working for Sadie Nash was an amazing experience. I got an inside look of what it is like to work for a non profit organization based in the inner city. My main role of Dean during the summer institute program was great because I spent my time educating young people of color on social justice issues and things that come up often in their communities. Being and educator but also a mentor melded together two passions of mine and I got to spend my time being a role model for outstanding young people.
What I wish was different
Although training was very well put together and getting to bond with other Deans from different sites was amazing I do wish training would have been closer to my home site and slightly more organized in the first couple of days.
Advice
One piece of advice I would give anyone going to work for Sadie Nash is be yourself! These young people want someone they can relate to and feel comfortable enough to share their experiences with. Even if you cannot always relate to their experience they will always appreciate the authenticity you bring to the situation. Lastly, HAVE FUN you are there to make memories and build bonds you will have for years to come!
