I truly just love being around geriatric patients and making an impact on their lives. This was my 2nd summer working at Samaritan Bethany and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I gain so much experience and confidence in my skills and bed side nursing skills. I am very thankful to have this experience as it will shape me into a better nurse.
What I wish was different
The shifts are not always ideal, but that's wherever you go. Healthcare shifts can be long and tiring. It's really not too bad.
Advice
Try to be confident in yourself and your abilities. I learned quickly that I was not giving myself enough credit for what I was doing with my time and energy. It also took me a while to realize that I did belong working there and with this population, so just try to be as confident as you can and believe in yourself. Allow yourself to shine with your skills.
