I loved participating in surgeries, and they would let me scrub in for certain specialty surgeries which gave me a wealth of experience. I also was blessed to work and communicate on a daily basis with an array of veterinarians who guided me along my application process into veterinary school.
What I wish was different
I wish that the hours were more flexible but it really taught me a discipline of waking up at 6:00am and I do appreciate learning to be a more competent adult.
Advice
Ask a lot of questions and do not be afraid to talk about your aspirations and ask other people about the paths they took to get them to where they are now.

Employees had to take on too many responsibilities, would sometimes suffer from compassion fatigue
Advice
This job is more than cuddling with animals. You will see many cruelty cases and sad cases so you need to have thick skin.
