The mentorship I received at the Council was incredible. I had the opportunity to co-author an opinion piece published in E-International Relations with my supervisor. Additionally, every week, interns had a dedicated conversation with a different staff member at the Council, allowing us to expand our professional network. It was a super immersive experience that I would highly recommend to folks studying International Relations who are curious about working at a think tank.
What I wish was different
Of course, I wish the internship had been in-person, but the Council did an outstanding job of keeping everyone connected.
Advice
Never hesitate to reach out to people across the organization for an informational interview. I got to speak with so many people with amazing life experiences that were more than happy to chat with me about the work they do, my career goals, etc. It helped me feel connected during these crazy times and undoubtedly built my network.
