The Millennium Project

Research Intern

January - May 2019 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I liked how as an intern I could choose what to work on independently. I was allowed to focus on areas that I found interesting and do research on, which made the experience more fulfilling.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more deadlines set in place in order to get work done. Although I liked the leniency of the organization, I felt at times that I had little motivation to finish tasks due to no strict deadlines.

Advice

If you’re interning for the first time, I would recommend this organization because it’s a more relaxing avenue to start with compared to other internships where you might feel more pressured from the start.

Research Intern

May - August 2018 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Lot of freedom to explore what I'm interested in, able to go to various events/conferences around DC and apply that information to projects, weekly UN intern meetings

What I wish was different

Different office space, more projects

Research and PR Intern

June - August 2018 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I loved how self directed it was- I was encouraged to create my own projects and research what interested me. I also got to work directly with CEO, Jerome Glenn. As a UN Intern, I was invited to lots of interesting events in DC.

What I wish was different

My supervisor traveled a lot, so there were times when I could have used more guidance. Some sort of training at the beginning of my job would have been great, but overall these challenges proved to be learning experiences.

Advice

Don't be afraid to reach out to people in your network for advice on finding internships! I would never have gotten this opportunity if I hadn't overcome my nerves and asked someone for career advice.
