I liked that I was able to work on my own time and still meet professionals and grow my network.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to do the internship in person but due to COVID-19, I was unable to.
Advice
To time yourself properly because projects and deadlines are weekly so stay on top of your game with that.

Peter Roth Intern
November 2021 - July 2022 • New York City, NY
What I liked
The Paley Center was such a warm and welcoming environment. By far one of the best places I've ever worked. The intern supervisors, Rebekah Fisk and Carlos Pareja, were personable, accommodating and always had our best interest. We heard from industry professionals who made it to the very top and from people who just graduated and were able to give us ground level insight. I met people who grew to be not just people in my "network" but genuine friends.
What I wish was different
As the inaugural class, I experienced this program when it was finding out what works and what doesn't, and one of the things I wished had been different is the length of the work week. I loved working here so much that 3 days a week was not enough time during the summer. I also wish there was more hands on work specifically related to TV production instead of curatorial work.
Advice
Apply if you love TV and media. If you're more sports broadcasting, journalism, or marketing oriented this isn't the internship for you. Allow those whose passion is television to experience this opportunity.

Industry Programming Intern
September - December 2019 • New York City, NY
What I liked
The people were really supportive in my program. There were a lot of events you could go to for free.
What I wish was different
I wish there was another intern in my department. There is a lot of work to do and its overwhelming sometimes. Also it was unpaid.
Advice
Get as much as you can out of an internship. Especially an unpaid one.

Library Research intern
June - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
It was a great atmosphere to work in. /It was my second internship with them and my second in a row, so I was excited to go back to see what else they had to offer.
What I wish was different
I guess more different tasks would have been nice. I kept doing the same tasks throughout the entire summer, and it started to get a bit boring towards the last fews weeks.
Advice
If you are in the communications school at any school, especially in New York and you want a different view on the more behind the scenes and looking at old physical copies of anything that has been on television ranging from the 1940s- the present.
