The Paraclete Vision
The Paraclete Afterschool Program fosters the intellectual, moral, social, and creative growth of its students and nurtures the full potential of their whole character. We do this in a number of ways: we balance high expectations with an unfailingly positive culture; we practice project and game-based learning in classes that actively engage students and emphasize hands-on activities; we keep classes small to provide a large amount of individual attention to student needs; and we design our curriculum to align with that of the Boston Public Schools in order to reinforce the material that students learn during their school days and to enrich what cannot be explored daily in school.
The program’s faculty, staff, and volunteers work closely with students’ families to build a supportive and caring community. We develop personal and institutional support that will ensure the continuing success of Paraclete students in high school and beyond.
Everyone involved in The Paraclete Afterschool Program contributes time, energy, and talent to our community. Parents and community members volunteer their time and expertise to help provide the myriad of services that we need to continue to function.
Paraclete Academy students are expected to uphold high standards of academic achievement, conduct, and respect for others. Much is expected of our students and, in return, much can be gained from our program.
The Paraclete Mission
The Paraclete Afterschool Program is a diverse and accepting out-of-school enrichment program for 4th through 8th grade youth in South Boston. Our mission is to develop young women and men into skillful writers, careful readers, and critical thinkers. Our students will be academically prepared for further education, dedicated to serving others, and compassionate learners with a strong sense of self-worth.
