I enjoyed observing and participating in group DBT counseling with adolescents. I desire to become a counselor myself and enjoyed becoming familiar with the process in a hands on manner.
What I wish was different
There was very little structure or supervision for my internship. I wish there had been a supervisor to guide me through the process of DBT and help me navigate the company. There was a coordinator for my internship, but after getting me the internship there was very little guidance.
Advice
Be intentional about having a mentor to help guide you through the internship process. Especially in the field of psychology a supervisor is crucial.
