What I liked

I really loved the people. People at TransUnion were very nice and kind.

What I wish was different

I thought that I would love my internship to be remote. But, it was a little hard being in home all day long.

Communications intern

May - August 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

The TransUnion culture is unlike any other company I've interned at. The company is growing, yet small enough to feel like your voice and opinion matters. I didn't feel like "just an intern" but rather a valuable member to the Communications team. My projects consisted of more than running errands-I worked on real projects that long-term supported the company's mission.

Information Security Intern

May 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Learning Environment, extreme flexibility - allowing me to work while studying abroad in the Winter, good program for interns

What I wish was different

Organization

Advice

Working in a place where asking questions is not only encouraged but required is the best kind of internship to have and embrace. Find a company that values learning and not cash cows, and you will learn more in the internship than you do in class (class becomes a supplement to work).

Software QA Automation Engineer Intern

May - August 2018 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Great company culture of moving towards innovation. Great boss. Lots of opportunity to move around within the company.

What I wish was different

More clear return offer process and more clear opportunties to network with current employees.

Advice

If you get an internship at TU in Denver, you may feel a bit of distance from the Chicago interns, and the community will be a bit smaller, but still tight nit. Make sure to ask your boss what you should learn before you come so that your are technically prepared for the job.

Technical Writer

July 2014 - April 2016 • San Luis Obispo, CA

What I liked

Flexible Schedule.

What I wish was different

More definited daily tasks. More interesting projects.

Advice

Take initiative. They are very flexible about what you work on, when you work, and how you do things. If you take the initiative to work on something cool and do something interesting, they will probably let you.

Project Management Intern

May - August 2018 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Everyone was very friendly and was eager to offer assistance and other aid. Even VPs were happy to talk about their experience and how they ended up in their career. TransUnion also had great events for the interns such as service projects, baseball games, and resume workshops among others.

What I wish was different

I wish that there had been more opportunities to network outside of the one team that I worked on.

Advice

Enjoy your time and find out what you enjoy. Maybe you won't like the department you intern for, but there are always learning opportunities to find out about different products and job roles. If you want to find out about what someone does, just ask them to lunch. In my experience, everyone is happy to go to lunch with interns and talk about their experiences.
