Past, Present, and Future of TRIA
TRIA began as a partnership between a private sports medicine practice (The Orthopaedic Center), a multi-specialty healthcare provider (Park Nicollet Health Services) and an academic center (Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Minnesota Physicians). Orthopaedic surgeons from each of these three entities realized the need to bring all elements of orthopaedics together to improve patient care and treatment outcomes. These physicians recognized a breakdown in the way that patients, care providers, insurance companies, and hospitals work together. They wanted to reorganize their medical practices to empower patients to be involved in their care, and to re-establish the connection between patients and their physicians. At the same time, they wanted to contribute to the science of orthopaedic medicine and create a comprehensive center for orthopaedic research and education. TRIA was built on the strengths of each of its partners for the benefit of our patients and the community, while advancing the science of orthopaedic medicine. On March 15, 2005, TRIA opened at 494 & France Avenue in Bloomington, Minnesota, offering comprehensive orthopaedic care – from diagnosis to treatment to surgery – at one convenient location. TRIA has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, along with the apparent need to expand our facility to accommodate our increasing number of patients and providers. In September 2012, TRIA Physical Therapy transitioned into a new facility on the second floor (skyway level) of Northland Plaza, located next door to TRIA. It is a specially-designed environment for coordinated patient care, including a functional training area, a gym, and a variety of rehabilitative equipment for specialty programs. TRIA is also looking forward to a bright future, with a second location opening in Maple Grove, Minnesota in the fall of 2015. Since its inception, TRIA has brought advancements to the market such as the first walk-in orthopaedic Acute Injury Clinic in the state of Minnesota, a Sport Concussion Program for comprehensive management of concussions and return-to-play, and the innovative TRIA/Hilton Recovery Program. Physicians and staff continue to develop new programs while collecting, measuring, and evaluating patient care to improve and accelerate recovery. TRIA is a proven model for orthopaedic care, blending the strengths of its partners to create a center of excellence.
