I loved the opportunity of being able to work in a legal and corporate environment. This was my first time working in a legal, corporate, and even office setting. The people there were happily able to help me learn about what it means to work in a legal environment, and never once did I feel as if I was lesser, or intimidated by the peers I worked around. Throughout my internship, I was able to make great connections with individuals in the legal industry, and I was also given a good foundation to build my future career off of. The experience was great overall.
What I wish was different
One big thing I wished would have been different would be that I wish I did not receive this internship during covid. Due to covid, I missed out on a lot of opportunities, and ultimately, it took a lot away from my overall experience working with Twin Cities Diversity in Practice. Aside from that, the internship was fantastic.
Advice
My piece of advice would to not be afraid to put yourself out there. In the case that you want to work in the legal field, it would be great to know the people that you would soon be working around, whether it be for the purposes of networking, getting a mentor, or just knowing a name around the office. Odds are, everyone around you wants to know you too, and one will never be able to appreciate and understand all of the opportunities they may have waiting on them simply because they were confident enough to say hello and strike up a conversation.
