I loved being able to meet some of the next generation and hear about their struggles and their victories, and watch them grow in their faith all while I grew in mine right alongside them. It also gave me practical youth ministry experience, which is what I want to go into. Finally, it gave me good physical skills with ropes course materials and outdoor knowledge.
What I wish was different
I wish it was not so far away from my home so that I would have been able to go home and refresh on the weekends, but there is nothing that Twin Lakes can do about that. I am the one who chose to go there! Even staying at the camp all summer had its benefits and really helped me focus on keeping my relationship with God strong. It was just a very exhausting summer.
Advice
Give it your all, even when it does not feel like you can. The campers know when you are in a bad mood or would rather be somewhere else, and that can be detrimental to their experience. Staff always have to be mindful of their attitudes because the campers pick up on it much more than we might think sometimes. It is okay to have a bad day, but if that is the case than be honest and open with your campers and let them know that you care about them, you are just having a rough time. That is better than leaving things unsaid.

What I liked
The other staff members were amazing and training was excellent. Such a great opportunity to invest in kids and learn about discipleship!
What I wish was different
I'm in favor of the schedule changes Twin Lakes is implementing summer 2019.
Advice
Do your best to prepare physically and spiritually before camp. Also, trying to take summer classes online while working might be a bad idea.

What I liked
I enjoyed leading young girls in God’s word. It was incredible to see the impact that God made in girls’ lives this summer.
What I wish was different
I wish there hadn’t been as many cliques within the summer and support staff.
Advice
Rely on God. If you try to do it on your own, you will not succeed.
