The mission of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) is to improve the programs and operations of the Department of Commerce through independent and objective oversight. OIG provides leadership and coordination and recommends policies designed not only to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in government programs, but also to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in their administration.
