Research Assistant

May - August 2019 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Because it was unpaid, I had a lot of flexibility with my schedule. I also worked with other Clinical Research Coordinators who were really nice and friendly, overall healthy work environment. My PI was really nice and let me shadow him and introduced me to other doctors. Hospital environment exposure was great, working with patients was enlightening. And the research was interesting.

What I wish was different

I wish the commute wasn't so far (about 1 hour each way), but living at home saved a lot of money. I also wish I was given more responsibility since this project only took a few hours each day.

Department Intern

June - August 2018 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

The ability to get as much exposure about the institution, department, and professional health care environment.

What I wish was different

Work culture was hard to adapt to, and the commute was difficult for me.

Advice

Although I had a difficult time adjusting to my environment, I learned so much about working in a fast paced health care environment with some of the top health providers in the world. I was fortunate enough to get exposure to certain exclusive experiences that not even some of the full time employees get access to. I struggled, however, will take every experience during this internship to improve upon myself and strengthen the skills I have gained.
