Working at UNAGB helped me hone my writing, advertising, and research skills. I was also able to see direct results from my work; the essays I wrote were used to teach lessons in Model UN to middle school students at Harvard University, and I was the first in my position to create a complete financial history document for the organization.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to work more with online and social media platforms.
Advice
I would say to take advantage of the networking events you can go to, ask lots of questions, and don't be afraid to ask to research what you want: since the office is small, interns have a large say in their work!

What I liked
The collaborative and supportive network of coworkers and supervisors helped me feel like I could learn and grow within the organization and independently. We had frequent check-ins and I always felt comfortable asking for help.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more opportunities for in-person experiences. Due to COVID-19, there wasn't as many in-person opportunities as there could have been during a normal year.
Advice
Don't be afraid to schedule meetings with supervisors or ask to speak with anyone in the company! Everyone I talked to was excited to talk to me about their experience and help me with whatever I needed.

What I liked
There was a lot of support from management. There was great communication from day to day on what tasks were assigned and clear deadlines. It was also meaningful work and a good internship experience for learning how a nonprofit operates.
What I wish was different
I wish it had been a paid internship and that there had been more opportunities for in-person collaboration because most of the work was independent.
Advice
I would recommend creating daily schedules for yourself in order to ensure you get you tasks done in an efficient and timely manner.
