Universal Avionics Systems Corporation

Avionics System Integration Engineering Intern

May 2022 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

I got good hands on and in the field experience learning from experts in multiple disciplines. It was a very friendly/ human application and interview process that didn’t leave you feeling like just another number. Great company community overall where everyone can be heard. I feel very appreciated and well compensated here.

What I wish was different

My role wasn’t super well defined and I certainly had ups and downs. Some days I was entrusted to work on projects independently while at other times I was more of helper/ shadow. Overall not a total negative because there was so much to learn to get up to speed, but there were also a number of days filled with much less exciting organizational tasks like cleaning labs and taking inventory. Nothing that overshadowed the highlights however.

Advice

This role really highlights the importance of doing your “homework”; being able to do your own research and take in knowledge when it’s provided on a wide range of subjects is super important to working in such a diverse industry.
