Research Technician

August 2021 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

I love being able to do first hand research, learn new techniques, and contribute to the health industry.

What I wish was different

I wish UA had more competitive pay for undergraduate research. I was offered $13 an hour, but I believe skilled research technician positions are actually worth more considering the knowledge we have. Target, Amazon, and fast food restaurants pay significantly better for unskilled labor.

Advice

First hand research is invaluable to scientists and future scientists. If you are considering getting involved, do it! You won't regret it and you will learn if it is the right career path for you or not.
