Undergraduate Research Assistant

May 2016 • Denton, TX

What I liked

Volunteering in a professor's research lab provides great experience and you get to know the professor and PhD students really well. Some of the people I met in this lab are now my good friends.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been a paid position, I spend sometimes 30+ hours per week in this lab and I dont get paid for any of it.

Advice

If you're timid about asking a professor to see if they would take you on in their lab, just do it. The worst a professor can do is say no. If you've asked all your professors start asking their PhD students because they might be willing to let you help on in their personal projects.

Medical Student Intern

May - July 2018 • Fort Worth, TX

What I liked

I loved the people that I got to know, and the fact that I got to have some amazing experience in the field that I hope to go into one day.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't have changed much, I do wish that I could have gotten to do more. Who doesn't though?

Advice

This was a part of my JAMP internship, so all pre-med students who are eligible should take this opportunity.
