The VA DME Internship Program is a proud participant in the Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) program, which allows students to work on projects that advance the federal government’s work on many fronts. The DME Internship offers the opportunity to participate virtually with students from a variety of backgrounds and locations to assist the Department of Veterans Affairs in developing creative communication channels to better reach Veterans.
DME Interns aid in areas such as research, graphic design, writing, editing, social media analytics, accessibility, transcription, comment moderation, human resources, web development, podcast production, and a host of other activities. The VA’s social media pages on platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and the VAntage Point blog often feature our interns’ work. Interns also play a key role in developing the VA’s weekly Borne the Battle podcast.
You can find the internship listing by searching for “VSFS” or “Virtual Student Federal Service” on
USAJOBS. An applicant must complete the VSFS online application, which is outlined at
https://dmeinterns.org/application-information/ in the section titled “Application Process.”
Prospective interns must also choose at least 1 internship offered by the DME Team as one of their top
3 preferred projects.
