Advice

The people I work with are all awesome! This was my first time working at this store and everyone was really nice.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a more consistent schedule - shifts change a lot.

Advice

Prepare for a lot of traveling customers. This location is pretty close to the airport and is the biggest mall in the area so there are a lot of people coming through from different countries - this means language barriers, different sales, and different social rules. Be patient and stay calm!

Sales Associate

May - August 2019 • Brea, CA

What I liked

I liked that I was able to get first-hand experience with customers. Engaging with customers and being able to work on my service and sales skills was helpful because it is relevant to any industry I enter in the future.

What I wish was different

I wish that management had been a bit more understanding of availability. Sometimes I felt that I was pressured to stay later, even if the hours were out of my availability.

Advice

The advice I want to share about this experience is to ask for help when you need it. A lot of the skills required for this job should be taught to you on the sales floor, or you learn as you go but if you have any questions ask a manager or more senior associate who can help you out. Also, know it's okay to say no. Know what the hours are to get your breaks and make sure you are clear with managers who might try and persuade you to work past your availability.

Sales Support and Generalist

August 2018 - September 2019 • Westminster, CO

What I liked

I liked that I was able to grow within the company and become an interim manager for the holiday season and the company was so willing to help with training and the management staff at this store was very willing to help out with my growth. They were very flexible with my schedule and very willing to let me come back to work as a seasonal associate while in school.

What I wish was different

I do wish that there was more communication between managers, because there were times that one manager said sone thing and another manager had contradicted and said something different.

Advice

I would share that to work in retail, you must be able to keep up with changing standards and changing tactics to reach customers.
