The free-contact experience with wolves, wolfdogs, and other wild canids was great. It was a really cool experience and I learned a lot!
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more opportunities to learn how to do veterinary care and captures and to stay in the loop on the happenings of the wolfdog community.
Advice
Be ready to do a lot of manual labor! It's not always bad as you'll have people helping you, but it's definitely a lot if you're not used to it (like I was!). Try to make personal connections with staff and other interns as it's very remote and it's easy to get lonely.
