WSU - Applied Sciences Laboratory

Technical Assistant (Software Engineer)

June 2018 • Spokane, WA

What I liked

This specific position allowed me to see the process of developing software for a real client from start to finish. All stages of development were touched upon and so I had a great time exploring what I would like to focus on moving into the industry (design, development, testing, etc).

What I wish was different

Working at a smaller company doesn't always give you the full picture of the industry. Therefore applying to larger companies in the fall and winter for internships might have been a good idea.

Talk to your mentors as much as possible. If you're in the right place they will be the most help to you in difficult tasks. At the same time, tasks that you think you might be able to do yourself.
