I liked the subject matter of the articles being written by the contributors as well as getting to be a part of a small team. I know working for other journals wouldn't have allowed me to be on a call with the CEO of the journal everyday and I really valued that experience.
What I wish was different
I found it hard to be working remotely given their less structured intern program. The majority of the assignments were handed out on the day they needed to be done and were given to the first intern that volunteered, so it could be hard to know what my work load would look like on any given day.
Advice
In order to be a successful intern, you really need to be self-motivated and energized. They really value people who come up with their own projects that benefit the broader organization. It can also be hard to fill your day if you don't receive an assignment for that day.
