Learning about the different processes involved in manufacturing new parts, as well as how old parts are renewed. I also like how much I learned about how to repair aircraft parts. The knowledge that I have obtained has been applicable to more than just the machine shop; it has also helped me throughout my personal hobbies of building engines and repairing cars.
What I wish was different
The prices of food in the cafeterias...the organization that operates the cafetierias throughout the facility is non-profit and charge far too much for the quality of the food.
Advice
It is well worth the investment of time and effort. If one should decide to take upon an internship here, be punctual, friendly, work hard and never stop learning!

SMART Scholar Intern
May - August 2018 • Lexington Park, MD
What I liked
The base is full of very driven and intelligent individuals. I was given projects and expected to complete them and present on them.
What I wish was different
I would have taken more of the free courses the base offers. There is a tendency to forget about the interns, or not have work for them.
Advice
You have to be your own driver here, push to be included on projects and don't be shy. They all do wanna see you succeed.
