What I wish was different
True Lacrosse is a national organization. They have multiple teams in most states in the U.S. There were many tournaments where my team faced off against another True team. Some of the coaches we faced off against were smart, energetic, and I had a pleasure to play against. However, other coaches we matched up with showed no class at all. They had no sportsmanship and sought to physically punish the other team. I coached junior varsity level kids. My team consisted of freshman and sophomores in high school that is 15-16 years old. That is not the vision that I thought my organization was trying to push. My districts of Kalamazoo, Portage, and Mattawan wanted to drive our kids to become the best they could be. We were goal-oriented and always put their family, education, health, and religion first. I wish that the organization could take note of the bad apples I faced off against this summer and would push for everyone to be following our four pillars: Passion, Energy, Expertise, and Reps.
