June 2018 - September 2019 • Pleasant Prairie, WI

What I liked

My coworkers and the majority of the managers were fun to work with.

What I wish was different

I wish they had better ventilation at night when the store closed while we were stocking. It became too hot at times.

Advice

Get to know the managers right away. Some may seem intimidating at first, but they are human just like you. If you get along with them, they will be more willing to help you in the future.

Licensed Optician

April 2012 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I love that I get to help people pick out the glasses they need and seeing the patient's face light up when they are able to see clearly.

What I wish was different

Working in an optical department within a Costco warehouse brings more traffic than working at a Dr's Office or optical store. Stress levels can be higher since there are more patients to take care of and more problems can arise.

Advice

Working for Costco, you will work for your money. They pay very well and have great benefits but you do have to earn it.

Associate

April - June 2017 • Wichita, KS

What I liked

The pay was incredible, and the people were great for the most part.

What I wish was different

I wish they had been better about rotating people from outside work to inside work, and vise versa. When it's 90+ outside and I'm doing nothing but pushing carts for my six hour shift, my work quality is going to suffer.

Advice

Costco pays you about 1.5x the rate of most retail/ grocery stores, but expects you to do the work of two or three people. If you can manage that, then it is very good money. If not, it will burn you out.
