Costco Wholesale

Vendor

May 2021 • Merced, CA

What I liked

I really enjoy the environment that I work in. What I mean by this is that all my coworkers are actually really nice so that makes our work environment great because everyone is friendly and supportive with each other making it a great place to work at.

What I wish was different

The only I see about this job that I wish could be different is the fact that I don’t get enough hours of work.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share from this experience is never judge a book by its cover. When I first started this job I was nervous and a little shy because I didn’t really know my coworkers. Now they turned out to be some of the nicest people I’ve met.

Tire Technician

February 2022 • Redmond, WA

What I liked

Costco has very good employee retention, they are flexible, have a good wage with benefits, and have many opportunities to cross-train in other departments and expand your skill base

What I wish was different

It is hard to work there as a student when you first start out, you are required to work at least 24 hours a week, 5 days a week in order to maintain part-time status, this can be difficult with a full time schedule. Once you complete a 3-month probationary period, you can apply for their college retention program

Advice

Learn the company's culture, Costco prides themselves on their exceptional customer service and places member satisfaction above all else. prepare and apply for the job within a period where you know you can give 24 hour weeks for 3 months.

Marketing Manager

September 2019 • Apex, NC

What I liked

I started with Costco in 2019 and didn't expect to stay going on five years, this Fall. Costco's culture is exceptional and provide employees to do the right thing regardless of the circumstance. Employees are well taken care of and receive immense professional development, if they so choose. The family-like atmosphere is a game changer in retail and I've enjoyed the professionals I work with.

What I wish was different

As with any retail job, the schedule can be difficult, especially starting out. I worked 2:30-11pm every day for the first year, but after that, I've become accustomed to it and rather enjoy it. Now almost five years in, I've been promoted three times and oversee several departments as a Manager in Operations.

What I liked

I really liked working with people but also the experiences that I had at work that related to the classroom where I was able to apply course concepts and see them in action.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a more technical role or higher managerial position.

Advice

I would suggest Costco to any person looking for a job especially if they are looking for a job after college because they often have corporate opportunities and they are a company that cares for their employees and takes care of them beneficially and compensation.
